The whole campus is seperated into 4 wings that extend to the outer edges of its site. Around the campus is a central volume which contains a shared library, a cultural center and a cafe. The central area is built with steel and concrete. The sport campus contains different facilities such as climbing wall, running track and basketball courts.

The load bearing walls of the 4 wings of the classrooms, the sports area’s of the upper stories are wrapped in glazing and allows a view into and through it from the walkways that encircle it.

This transparency pervades the whole building and plays a part in an informal communication and interaction between educators and students.

GIANT FACADE “TETRIS” BUILDING

This unique building looks like a giant game of Tetris. The 3D cubes at the exterior provides the building a very nice effect. The name of the building is The Building C, as it is the 3rd building of the DNB Nor Complex in Bjorvika, Oslo. It’s one of the Barcode Projects of Dark Arkitekter.

It has within a surface of 12.000 m2 fifteen floors which both include offices and public services.

The two last floors contain a bar and a public restaurant with a 360 degree panoramic view on the roof terrace.

It’ s one of the most remarkable building in Oslo.

THE IMPORTANCE OF WIND TUNNEL TESTING TO FACADE ENGINEERING

Vincent J. DeSimone claims that the most important and useful tool for structural engineers is to determine the forces on the building skin in a wind tunnel testing.

In a wind tunnel testing the engineers olace a scale model of a building inside the tunnel. After that they vary the wind speed and direction to divine the pressures on the structure.

Another important thing is the movement of the building. De Simone declares that in a seismic zone facade building use to be more flexible.

Always remember that “The most sustainable building is the building you don’t build and moreover the building which uses the least material”, Vincent J. De Simone.

Award for Facade Engineering Excellence

The award for facade engineering excellence was won by Andreas Architects for the facade engineering work in Abu Dhabi.

The Towers are the famous Al Bahr Towers. The elements that are used on the Tower expand and contract according to the sun’s position reducing by that solar gaining whereas making the offices independence on artificial light.

THE SPIRAL

Located at the intersection of the High Line and the newly developed Hudson Boulevard Park on Manhattan’s new western frontier, THE SPIRAL extends the green space of the former train tracks in a spiraling motion towards the sky – from High Line to the skyline.

The 1005 ft high-rise is a unique hybrid that intertwines a continuous green pathway with workspaces on every level. THE SPIRAL sets a new standard for the contemporary workplace, where nature becomes an integrated part of the work environment while spatial features are continuously adaptable to the changing needs of the tenants and their organizations.

The stepping form of THE SPIRAL echoes the architecture of New York City’s classic stepped setback skyscrapers and is the natural evolutionary step in the Tishman Speyer portfolio. The silhouette of THE SPIRAL resonates with the iconic architecture of Rockefeller Center while its modern materials and detailing place it at the forefront of contemporary high-rise design on a path to become a future classic on the Manhattan skyline.

SAS Architects created A Facade Building for Engineering University

This marvellous facade building is located in Canada.

The most amazing thing on the exterior is the series of triangles that comes from the result of an algorithm. These triangles shapes gives the aesthetic of a cloud – like shape building.

If you look closely on the picture you will observe the opaque and the transparent windows. Most of them are opaque and some of them are transparent. This beautiful differrence between the opaque & transparent windows creates an amazing light-shadow effect in the interior of the building.

Another modern thing you can  actually even notice from the pictures is the modern style of the interior area, which not includes any lecture halls. This goes way ahead from the buildings that we used to see. This building bring the students and the faculty closer together and promotes a flexibility of learning.

Taking a walk through the building tou can observe the white board on the walls written by students whop design or calculating their results.

The classrooms are equiped with the latest technologies and it even includes a hub for enterpreneurship, activity and collaboration  where students do their practise and become excellent technicians.

The whole exterior facade is consisting of 20 tree-like panels. Each floor’s façade is covered by 4 of the panels which complete each other two by two, all installed on two rails which can be moved manually all along the rails horizontally, providing infinite choices to the resident who can control the panels from inside.
The moving panels provides different light and shade shape in the interior…

This is not only a wellness centre…
This bold design becomes an iconic point for the city due to its complex geometry. It even has a waterfall flowing into the lower level basement parking.
The water body is used to regulate the internal microclimate of the round-about cooling the air generated by the cross ventilation.
As I said in the beginning this in not only a wellness centre.
